Abundant Flow
Pele and The Wild Dolphins
May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii, garlands of flowers everywhere! We will celebrate this festive day in the historical city of Hilo on the Big Island. After visiting waterfalls, we will drive through the ancient rainforest to the Volcano House to pay tribute to the Goddess Pele. Following our experience with the Goddess of Fire and Creation, we will go down the volcano road to Kona, and spend a few days playing with the wild dolphins in the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Throughout our travels on the Big Island we will be close to the sacred Lemurian energies that are held there.
Abundant Flow
Pele and The Wild Dolphins
A visit to the real old Hawaii: the first thing we will celebrate is May Day! In Hawaii, May Day has a unique history of celebration because May Day is Lei Day. Although it always seems to be summer in Hawaii, May, in springtime is especially lovely since the flowers have burst into full bloom and the air is fresh with their fragrance. The leis are made with these beautiful flowers.
We will meet in the historic town of Hilo, where we can fly in to Hilo International Airport on the Big Island of Hawaii. The town of Hilo sits on Hilo Bay, at the base of the great Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea Volcanoes and is known for its lush gardens, waterfalls and rainbows. Each of us will be able to create a lei with the sacred Ti leaf and flowers. We will have the opportunity to participate in a Reiki healing session, performed with harp music. After a welcome dinner we will spend that evening relaxing, healing. After breakfast, the next day, which is May Day, we will give each other our lovely flower leis and go explore secret places on the island.
We will drive across historic lava fields to remote to Kapoho Turtle pond,
visit Akaka Falls, explore exquisite gardens and have our own May Day Circle,
where we will honor each other and the Mother Earth with our leis . An old
Hawaiian saying, "Malama kekahi i kekahi" means "Take care of each other." Later
on, we will explore lava tubes, black sand beaches and warm springs. We will
have lessons in ancient Hula, a bon fire on the cliff overlooking the ocean. We
will drive through the rain forest, full of the scent of wild ginger, exquisite
orchids and giant ferns, up the mountain to the Volcano National Park, where we
will have a unique and rare opportunity to have ceremony with a Kahuna (Hawaiian
Priestess) from the Ancient Hawaiian lineage of Pele. Since there are very few
of these trained Kahunas left, this opportunity for sacred healing is one that
not many people get the chance to have.
Kilauea, where the Volcano House is located is revered by the Hawaiians and they
pay homage to the mountain and the Goddess Pele, who is the Hawaiian Goddess of
Fire and Creation. It is here, from Kilauea, on the slopes of Mauna Loa that the
creation of new earth is ongoing with volcanic activity. We will explore sacred
sites and the beautiful Niaulani Hawaiian Forest.
As the official signs at the Volcano National Park indicate, the land there is
sacred. The signs declare the park’s acreage as the “land where the goddess
dwells” and invites the visitor to “experience for yourself, the spirit within
this awe inspiring wahi kapu” or “sacred landscape” of volcanic rock. “As you
enter this wahi kapu, prepare to be inspired, for Native Hawaiians believe this
to be the home of Pelehonuamea (Pele), the creator and creative energy that
formed these volcanic islands.” We will travel down the other side of the
mountain to Kona, stopping to visit powerful sacred areas along the way. In Kona
we will stay at the historic Keauhou Beach Resort Hotel.
Nestled at the bottom of the Hualalai Volcano, is the western city of Kona. In
ancient times, this area was considered the perfect place to live because of the
excellent weather and pure water. Many kings made their homes here. Later,
missionaries built churches and residences, turning the tiny fishing village
into a small seaport. In Kona, we will swim with the wild dolphins, have
ceremonies in sacred places and revel in the beauty and raw energy of the
Hawaiian landscape.
We will spend 2 mornings communing with the dolphins. Dolphins are special
beings on the earth. Have you ever noticed that they have an ever-present smile
on their faces? Dolphins teach us about the life we are meant to lead, to be
playful, loving and spiritually connected beings of light. Their energy
represents unconditional love and is a very powerful tool in opening our heart
chakras. There is still much to learn about dolphins and their teachings. They
are beautiful creatures that should be held in reverence and honor. To be able
to swim with them is a privilege and an special opportunity for healing. Our
swim with the wild dolphins will be professionally guided throughout two
mornings by a young man who has followed his heart and spent much of his life
with the dolphin energy. If you would like to stay in the boat and just "BE"
with the dolphins, that will be fine.
We will gather for circle sharing during the magical time of sunset on the
shores of the Pacific Ocean and have a forgiveness ceremony at Pu'u Honua
O'Honaunau.
Lee will help us to understand the messages which we may have received from the
dolphins, either individually, or as a group. Each day will be an exploration of
the island and of ourselves as we strive to understand some of the ancient
Hawaiian teachings. At night we can enjoy the evening breezes along the beach.
All the while, we will be understanding more of the real meaning of Aloha. Please
read about the Real Aloha, below, from the book, "The Meaning of Kahuna" by
Daddy Kaonohiokala Bray:
"The Real Aloha.
To be a kahuna, a person... must live according to the secret meaning of Aloha:
A: ala, watchful alertness
L: lokahi, working with unity
O: oiaio, truthful honesty
H: ha'aha'a, humility
A: Aahonui, patient perseverance
Aloha to the Hawaiian of old, means God in us. It means, 'Come forward, be in
unity and harmony with your real self, God, and mankind. Be honest, truthful,
patient, kind to all forms of life, and humble.' Kahunas had to learn these
things. When they learned them, they found God. They beheld nature as God
created it. Beauty in nature is found in flowers, trees, and every living thing
on earth, sea, air and fire. Even the rocks and stones and earth have life,
according to this way."
Our hope is that by the time we leave the beautiful island of Hawaii, we will
have some ALOHA in each one of us!
We will fly home from Kona International Airport with our hearts full
of abundance, happiness and aloha. We are excited to offer this adventure,
especially since Tina's family (who were not missionaries) first settled on the
island of Hawaii in the 1800's and she fondly remembers the power of Pele, the
lush forests and the healing ocean as part of her youth. We hope that you will
join us for this special heart sharing.
